Jeremy Smith, MSW, LMSW
Jeremy Smith is a licensed Masters social worker who has expertise in working with adolescents, young adults and adults on a broad range of issues including anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, career challenges, grief and loss, and trauma. Jeremy utilizes a calm, compassionate presence and thoughtful listening to help people feel heard and understood.
He integrates elements of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and person-centered therapies to find solutions that best fit each client’s unique needs. Jeremy has had a diverse career prior to becoming a therapist, working on economic and social justice in both international and domestic contexts, including senior leadership positions at the Aspen Institute and the Pew Charitable Trusts.
He had Masters degrees in Business Administration and Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and in Social Work from Catholic University. He currently shares his time between Behrens and George Washington University, where he works with a broad range of undergraduate and graduate students.
He has lived abroad in Spain and Mexico and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
